5-minute morning prayer/reflection
1. Institution/School San Jose Jesuitak
2. Name for the good practice 5-minute morning prayer/reflection
3. Main area the practice has influence on Environment
4. Purpose of the practice Get the group ready and motivated for the day work by spending 5 minutes in reflecting about how we feel and what is going on around us
5. Short description of the good practice (200 characters, at most) Each school level has got a person in charge of proposing refection issues and materials (Videos, pictures, songs, short texts, ?) day by day. All the teachers have got that stuff available and the ones who give start to the classes at the beginning of the day, share the materials with the students and lead the group reflection.
Sometimes students write down their thoughts and feelings in their diaries, some other times they share them aloud and some other times they just relax and think.
6. How to apply it. Step-by-step explanation. Step 1: Explain and motivate all the staff about the importance of kicking the day off with a reflection activity. Rehearse some examples and train the teachers to do it properly.
Step 2: Organise how to provide the teachers with the daily materials. The best option is to name a teacher who will take care of material gathering and sharing.
Step 3: Once the motivation and the organisation is set, create the routine by doing it every day, no matter there is an exam or not.
Step4 : Assess among the teachers and the students the activity is implemented and worth taking.

8. Why was it first applied? For being our school a Christian institution, around five years ago (2012) we realized that we had to give chance everyday to some inner reflection to our pupils in a more standardised way. Thus, we commenced in primary to leave room at the beginning of the morning to a reflection time to get our pupils focused for the rest of the day
9. How was it tested? The satisfaction enquiries include some items regarding spiritual learning and group atmosphere. The trend of those items since this new measure was applied has be upward, therefore proving that the measure is good. Besides, teachers and pupils find this reflection time enriching.
10. How many teachers took part in its application?
11. Did it involve any investment in new materials? To get the practise implemented, a new responsibility was assigned so that materials were provided to all the teachers. This supposed that by school levels, a member of the staff is responsible for generating and sharing the reflection materials day by day.
12. What effect did it have among students? This practice has become very popular among students and they enjoy and value it a lot.
13. What spread has the practice experimented? As in many other proposals at our school, this routine has gone up to the older groups and nowadays it is a practise implemented in the whole school.
14. Has it been standardised by a teacher, a group of teachers, a level or the whole institution? It is already implemented as an institutional practice
